(1 minute walk to the beach!)
About Us
COCO Beach Village in Playa Matapalo, Savegre is a brand new Bed and Breakfast located 160 meters from several kilometers of beautiful natural and pristine beach. It is filled with natural rainforest and sea habitat.
We consider our place to be the Pearl of the South Pacific for several reasons:
We thought of every convenience to our guests that we could when building and our lagoon shaped pool and gardens are highly admired in the South Pacific.
The convenience of our location to this beautiful pristine beach that our guests can easily walk to in approximately one minute. We're also located on paved roads in our area that are very easy to navigate.
We are conveniently located in between two Costa Rica National Parks. (Manuel Antonio National Park is just to the north of us. Uvita Whale Marine National Park is just to the South of us.) Playa Matapalo is relatively secluded compared to populated areas and very tranquil to vacation in. We moved here mesmerized by the vast abundance of wildlife and rainforest. The Monkeys are seen roaming daily throughout the beach area.
Playa Matapalo beach stretches several kilometers in both directions and has a turtle sanctuary to help increase the turtle population. Several times a year turtles hatch and are released into the sea. Horseback riding excursion directly along this beautiful stretch of natural beach are available as a means to see more kilometers of the area rather than walking. Kayak Tours are also available in Playa Matapalo. Either way, natural animal habitats to the beach and rain forest will be readily seen, as our area is less populated. Our stretch of beach also has a few Estuaries that you may cross (where rivers from the mountains flow into the sea) and our area has one of the highest number of mangroves in all of Costa Rica.
We can arrange many different types of excursions during your visit or you can simply relax by the lagoon pool and take nature walks throughout our small beach community and see the numerous monkeys, sloths and huge array of colorful birds. We welcome both short and long term stays for visitors.
We're located one turn off the major 34 Highway, in the well known areas between Manuel Antonio/Quepos and Dominical.
Please note: There are three Matapalos in Costa Rica. We are located in PLAYA MATAPALO, SAVEGRE, Puntarenas Province, just South of Manuel Antonio National Park/Qeupos). We pinpointed our exact location on Google map on the CONTACT US page of this Site.
Traveling here:
It is best to fly into the Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO). Referred to as the San Jose Airport (SJO airport code when booking flights). It is the primary international airport serving San José, the capital of Costa Rica. (The Liberia and Limon Airports are a very far distance from the Puntarenas Province).
You may also book a hopper flight from SJO to Quepos, the La Managua Domestic Airport (XQP)). This is an airport approximately 3 kilometers east of Quepos and very near us. SANSA and Nature Air offers domestic flights to the Quepos airport, a quick 25 minutes when flying from San Jose (SJO). The number of luggage allowed is limited for hopper flights to Quepos.
Guests can rent a car from the SJO International Airport and drive to our location. We can pre-arrange car rental transportation for you from either of these airports as well. We know the reputable car rental agencies in Costa Rica.
Guests can also choose to take the Tracopa Bus Line from the SJO or Quepos Airports to Playa Matapalo. The San José Tracopa Bus Terminal is well known across Costa Rica and in particular at the SJO and Quepos Airports. Any taxi will drive you to the Tracopa Bus Terminal from either airport.
At the Bus Terminal near SJO, ask for a bus ticket to Manuel Antonio/Quepos. The bus is airconditioned, with cushioned seats and a scenic ride, with one 10 minute pit stop to buy snacks and drinks. Your luggage will be securely stored by the bus driver with a tag placed on your luggage and a duplicate tag handed to you to indicate which baggage is yours. You must provide that duplicate matching ticket to the bus driver once in Quepos to retrieve your luggage.
